DERBY SHOE

DERBY SHOE

A derby is a type of boot or shoe characterized by quarters sewn on top of the vamp with shoelace eyelets. This type of design, also known as open lacing, is in contrast to the process of oxford. A Derby is defined by how the lacing and eyelets close the shoe. The closing panels are sewn on top of the vamp, providing the shoe with a more sturdy look and more room for the lower instep than an Oxford, better suited for more durable models. Sometimes the Derby is confused with the Oxford, as some versions may look similar at first glance.
