The brogue is a low-heeled shoe or boot type that has historically been characterized by multi-piece, durable leather tops with decorative perforations (or "broguing") and serration along the visible edges of the pieces.Brogues have historically been considered outdoor or country shoes not otherwise appropriate for casual or business opportunities, but brogues are now considered suitable in most circumstances. Today, besides their typical form of durable leather shoes or boots, brogues can also take the form of business dress shoes, sneakers, high-heeled women's shoes, or any other shoe shape that uses or evokes the multi-piece structure and perforated, tight edges of brogues.
